Illustrating Children's Picture Books with Korky Paul

Korky Paul is an international multi-million selling children’s book illustrator. On this course he will teach you how to design and illustrate a children’s picture book which you could use as a presentation package to show prospective publishers, or use to self-publish. The course will be a mixture of an editorial-style workshop and practical work in the class, combined with lots of ‘homework’.

Chinese Brush Painting – Winter Landscapes

Create a typical Chinese winter landscape using freestyle techniques and learn about the rituals and symbolism that surround this ancient and fascinating art. Traditional Chinese landscape painting consists of drawing the various elements with a brush before adding colour. Students will paint using traditional Chinese painting materials and techniques.

Mixed-Media Sketchbooks – Building a Rich Resource

An experimental sketchbook can be a springboard for future creativity or simply enjoyed in its own right as a journal of observations and techniques. On this course we will create rich and expressive sketchbook pages by generating ideas using mixed media. We will explore the creative potential of line, colour and texture while experimenting with mark-making, layering and collage. These ideas can then be extended by simplifying, abstracting and fragmenting images.

Polyester Plate Lithographic Printing

This is an introduction to a user-friendly and safe lithographic printing method using polyester plates. An image is drawn or painted on the plate using various tools, such as permanent markers or acrylic paint, then rolled with lithograph inks and run through the press. This course will teach you the basic techniques and is suitable for beginners.

Textual Art - Abstract Letterform
