Goldwork Embroidery with Silk Shading - Rose

Goldwork and silk shading work beautifully together. In this course you will learn the technique of silk shading (painting with the needle) while embroidering a beautiful rose design. The bloom will then be embellished with a variety of metal threads which will include creating golden edges to the petals.

This course is an introduction to several different types of rug making – a traditional craft that can be interpreted with contemporary designs. Rug techniques covered in this course include wool tufting with a latchette hook and the rag rug methods of hooky, proggy and braiding. Students will come away with samples of each technique to be worked onto either a hessian backcloth or open-weave rug canvas.

Pattern Cutting - A Dress that Fits

With her appearance on the BBC's 'Make! Craft Britain', tutor Christine Green has put paper cutting firmly in the middle of the crafting map. This course will introduce you to a variety of cutting techniques and methods of creating cut-outs in 3D. You will master how to design with cutting in mind, and how to use a scalpel accurately and to great effect.
