Summary

This course is designed to teach you all the skills and techniques required to make a quality string of Christmas decorative bunting.

You will also learn how to add some delightful embellishments that will finish your bunting perfectly. It is an interactive course with both instruction and practical sessions.  The skills learnt and the unique template provided will allow you to work at home to make bunting from any suitable fabric that you have.

Pressing pennants and turning through

Pressing to achieve perfect creases

Pinning pennants to the bias

Sewing the pennants to the bias

Materials

Materials are not included in your course fee.

Some materials will be provided by the tutor. The approximate cost of these will be £15 payable to the tutor during the course.

We do not have the facilities to take card payments in the workshops. Please remember to bring cash or your cheque book if your course involves buying materials from the tutor. 

Please bring with you:

Sewing machine

Ivory and red sewing thread for machine & bobbin

General sewing kit including; pins, small scissors, needles etc.

Large scissors or rotary cutter & cutting board

Tape measure if you want, there is a paper measure provided

Crochet hook or chopstick or a pencil with no point 

Tutor Profile

Joanne Ray is the owner of The Bunting Basket a business she created to hand-manufacture and sell high-quality bunting for all occasions.  Joanne makes all her own bunting which she sells through retail outlets as well as the country’s leading internet site for small creative businesses. She has developed a bespoke service for special occasions such as weddings.  Joanne has appeared on live TV making bunting for a leading craft channel and is excited to be passing on her skills through the course.

Timings & Refreshments

Coffee is available from 9.45am. The course starts at 10am and finishes at 4.30pm. Complimentary fresh ground coffee and a range of teas are provided all day, along with biscuits in the morning, a sandwich lunch and cake in the afternoon. SPECIAL DIETS - Lunch: We can cater for vegetarians. If you have other special dietary needs/preferences, please bring your own sandwiches. Teatime: If you would like gluten/dairy free cake, just let us know when you arrive.
